Annual instruction

Instruction for the handling of elevating work platforms

Back to the overview

The aim of the instruction is to ensure safe behavior when handling aerial work platforms.

Instruction enables you to pass on our expertise and our experience to your employees, making your company more successful.

The instruction covers two main topics:

  • die Gefahren, denen die Beschäftigten bei ihrer Tätigkeit ausgesetzt sind und
  • die Schutzmaßnahmen zur Abwendung dieser Gefahren

Advantages of instruction:

  • Your employees learn how to assess risks and therefore work with fewer mistakes
  • You fulfil the legal obligations for instruction.
  • The employees know which protective equipment and safety measures are prescribed.
  • Your employees can work safely and smoothly and are therefore more productive.
  • Your employees are more motivated, as they see that your health and safety are important in the company.
  • Your work procedures are more reliable, as the employees are better informed.

According to Sec. 12 of the German Occupational Safety Act, Sec. 12 of the German Industrial Safety Regulation and Sec. 4 of the German Statutory Accident Association (DGUV), Regulation 1, the employer must instruct its employees regularly (annually). The DGUV Regulation 1 even requires a written verification.

Regularly repeated instruction is necessary because everybody forgets what they have learned after a while. Just try to remember what your leaned in school, for example.

Experience shows that we tend to forget a lot, even under favourable conditions. Especially when no accidents occur, the dangers and safety measures are quickly forgotten and repeated instruction is required to refresh our memories.

Requirements for participating in the annual training for aerial work platforms:

  • Valid operator training according to DGUV-G 308-008, such as the PlatformCard or IPAF Operator Course
  • Knowledge of the German language in speaking and writing*

* Training can be conducted with an interpreter.

The annual instruction includes a theoretical part, which can be booked as part of the PlatformCard training or as a separate appointment. The instruction is conducted without a written performance check and serves solely to refresh existing knowledge with a duration of about two hours. The mateco Academy also offers you the opportunity to complete the instruction online via e-learning or upon request as a webinar through Microsoft Teams.

The instruction covers two main topics:

  • The hazards to which employees are exposed in their activities
  • The protective measures to prevent these hazards

In addition to classic training concepts, mateco Academy also employs modern training methods. Thus, the annual instruction can be conducted at any time via our online learning portal. We provide an e-learning training program that is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (24/7) for you. The instruction meets all criteria required by the ArbSchG, the BetrSichV, and the DGUV regulations.
